Recipe: Lemon & Castor Heel Treatment

Katari Geran geranium flower water on a stone block with dried flowers

Heels take a beating: shoes, bare floors, summer sandals, winter boots. This is a simple once-a-week treatment that leaves them noticeably softer.

You'll need

  • 3 parts fresh lemon juice
  • 1 part Black Castor Oil
  • A bowl of warm water
  • Géran flower water
  • Hoba Oil

How to make it

  1. Soak. Soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes to soften the skin. Pat them almost dry.
  2. Apply. Mix the lemon juice and Black Castor Oil and massage it into slightly damp heels.
  3. Wait. Leave it on for 20-25 minutes. Cotton socks keep it in place.
  4. Finish. Rinse with warm water, mist with Géran, and seal with a few drops of Hoba.

If the skin on your heels is broken or sore, skip the lemon: it will sting. Use Black Castor and Hoba alone instead.

The best heel care is boring: shoes that fit, plenty of water, and a little oil every night.

Patch test anything new on your inner forearm first. Skip any kitchen ingredient you are sensitive to, and keep food-based masques fresh: mix them right before you use them.
