Recipe: The Weekly Hand Ritual
We spend so much on our faces and then hand our hands dish soap. Hands show sun, cold and time just as clearly, so give them their own ritual once or twice a week, ideally just before bed.
You'll need
- 1/2 teaspoon Poudre de Barie
- Hoba Oil
- Rosehip and Granate Oil
- Géran flower water
- Barie Oil
- Cotton gloves
The ritual
- Soak. Soak hands in warm water for a few minutes and pat them almost dry.
- Polish. Mix Poudre de Barie with a few drops of Hoba into a soft paste. Massage over hands and cuticles in light circles for 2-3 minutes, then rinse.
- Mist. Mist hands with Géran.
- Oil masque. Massage in 3-4 drops each of Rosehip and Granate. Slip on cotton gloves and leave for 10-40 minutes, or overnight.
- Finish. In the morning, press a single drop of Barie into the backs of your hands and cuticles.
How often
- 2-3 times a week for 1-2 weeks to bring very dry hands back.
- Then once a week to keep them there.
- Every day: a drop of Hoba after washing your hands.
Patch test anything new on your inner forearm first. Skip any kitchen ingredient you are sensitive to, and keep food-based masques fresh: mix them right before you use them.
