Recipe: Black Seed, Honey & Oat Face Masque

Katari black seed oil pouring from a dropper into a hand-blown glass amphora

Black seed is potent, earthy and beloved along the Nile for thousands of years. Here it meets three pantry staples for a calming, softening masque that takes ten minutes.

You'll need

  • 1 teaspoon Black Seed Oil (or half Black Seed, half Hoba for sensitive skin)
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Oat flour, enough to thicken
  • A splash of water

How to make it

  1. Mix. Stir the oil, honey and egg yolk together, then add oat flour and a little water until creamy.
  2. Apply. Smooth a thin layer onto clean skin, avoiding the eyes.
  3. Wait. Leave it on for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse. Rinse with warm water and mist with Géran.

Black Seed is strong on its own. For everyday use on the whole face, mix it with Hoba. Use it neat only on small spots.

Patch test anything new on your inner forearm first. Skip any kitchen ingredient you are sensitive to, and keep food-based masques fresh: mix them right before you use them.
