The beans are roasted like coffee, then cold-pressed without heat or water. Nearly 90% ricinoleic acid gives it that thick, cushiony feel.

The deeper the roast, the darker the oil: ours is almost purple-black.

Hand-blown glass No two alike

The glass is blown in Egypt, each bottle on its own, over fire. One has a thinner wall and sits warmer in your hand, another's neck leans slightly to one side, and a third kept an air bubble inside — someone's breath that never made it out, set in the glass for good. The one that reaches you exists nowhere else.

We fill and cork by hand, one bottle at a time. Glass and cork are inert: nothing moves from the container into the oil.

I take the long way. On purpose.

Since 2010 I've been chasing ingredients across the Mediterranean, one maker at a time. I've walked Amr's fields near Alexandria, watched Mohammed's glass glow in a Cairo workshop, and spent ten years searching before I found Amin, our flower-water distiller in Béja, Tunisia. And only years to find a perfect bergamot water.

None of this is the easy route. That's the point. Every bottle holds one ingredient from a family I know by name, carried home the long way, so when you receive your Katari package is a small treasure with a real story behind it.

Love this Stuff I use on my face brows and eye lashes.
Just recently my little dog had trouble with mites in her ears because of a move to Louisiana, the castor oil is one of the best remedies to stop the bug life cycle organically... wow!

The black castor oil is amazing

The black castor oil is amazing. I rub just a little bit on my eyebrows before bed at night. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now. My eyebrows feel softer and I can tell they are getting thicker. I did try and put it on my eyelashes but I think a little bit of it gets into my eyes and it starts to burn. Either way I can definitely see more fullness and thickness in my eyebrows. Oh and the packaging that it arrives in is beautiful, the glass vile with the oil in it is pretty as well. You can tell so much love, thought and care is put into each order, along with the personal handwritten thank you note.

Best beard oil!!

Recently got a few more of the tester oils to give to friends to try. Got the castor oil for my boyfriend and his beard looks AMAZING. It’s so soft! He says it feels so light on his face now. If you have textured hair it’s really good for this. Going to buy the full size after writing this review.

I remember my grandmother used to put caster oil on my eyelashes when I was a little girl. Does Black Castor grow hair?

Not directly. It conditions and protects the hair you have, so it breaks less and brows and lashes look fuller over time.

Is it good for textured hair and sensitive skin?

Yes. It's a favorite for thick, curly and textured hair and dry scalps. For skin, follow with Roseau and Hoba.

Why is it so dark and thick?

The beans are roasted before pressing, like coffee. The deeper the roast, the darker the oil. The thickness comes from ricinoleic acid, castor's signature.
